re-imagining fabulous:

From Hot Mess to Healthy Habits-Obsessed 𓊍

Reimagining a beloved wellness app, I designed a dynamic and motivational user interface centered on a staircase journey. This solo conceptual redesign project invites users to visually climb toward their goals with every habit completed, creating an engaging and inspiring experience.

Duration: 2 weeks

  • ¹ The Brand

    Motivational UI for Habit Tracking

Fabulous has a loyal user base and an App Store rating of 4.5, but users often complain about the app’s navigation and interface for those who are technologically challenged.

  • ² The Research

OBJECTIVE: Identify how current users feel about the app’s features and what motivates them to stick with or abandon their habits. How might we improve the app’s usability?

  • ³ User Interview

    → QUESTIONS

¹ Aside from the app, how do you stay motivated to achieve your goals?

² How do you feel when you reach a milestone in Fabulous?

³ What inspires you return to Fabulous (or why did you stop using it)?

  • ⁴ The Insights

✎ 85% of users requested visual feedback like animations or game-like features to keep going.

✎ 70% of users report decision fatigue, with the app having too many new habit options.

✎ 66% of users said the app is difficult to navigate.

  • ⁵ Defining the Problem

How might we help users build sustainable habits more effectively while creating a sense of accomplishment?

  • ⁶ The Outcome

Enter the staircase journey: a visually dynamic progress tracker that grows with every completed habit.

This redesign turned habit tracking into a personal celebration by combining bold colors, uplifting notifications, and motivational milestones.

The new design also incorporated thoughtful features like tappable habit tiles, milestone celebrations, and personalized motivational messages.
